Perhaps the reward IS the "for profit" scheme.......

Or, look at it this way - buddy gets lockpicks cheaper, opens chests, sells the drops, makes "more" profit because the lockpicks were cheaper.

Or are you suggesting that, to be "fair", the Alliance guys should only open chests with the cheaper lockpicks if they swear NOT to sell (to merchant or otherwise) whatever crap they get?

(I'm not an Alliance member at all, let alone what that owns a town.)

... Just out of interest.... where does one find someone selling Lockpicks at these sorta prices in a hurry?

I've just been buying my lockpicks from the merch at 1.5k each.

Soti - just ask in any of the towns down south, theres usually someone around from one of the alliance guilds who will sell. Once you have a contact they will usually keep supplying you on request. Check party window in the towns too and trade chat. Start with the two main towns (Cavalon and House Zu Heltzer)

There is a guy in Kamadan that sits in D1 on the stairs. He's been there every time I've needed picks. I hit him up twice in one day once. Early morning and late at night. He may not ever sleep.

He also posts WTS picks for 1250 in the party search screen.

You can sometimes find someone selling at the remains of Selajah in NF. Alot of people farm LB/SS points there and burn through a ton of lockpicks.

As far as making money off of owning towns. Good for them. I'm in an alliance that owns a town once in a blue moon. It can be a pain in the butt trying to keep the alliance faction high enough to consistently own a town. For all those hours fffing or ABing, I'm fine with them finding a way to make some gold off of it. And it saves me 250g per pick off of merchant prices.

Takes to long to sell them for that little profit.

Of course they're making the 50g profit, why else do they want you to buy in bulk? Check the sell forum and there'll be people selling lockpicks in bulk for 1.25k each.

I am in one of those alliances ... and the pathetic amount that could be made from reselling isn't worth the effort. We have about 1000 people between all the guilds .. I have yet to see anyone from the alliance actually selling lockpicks. You sir are making a mountain out of a mole hill.
Go to LA or Kamadan any time day or night and you will see one of about 20 or so full-time guild/alliance members selling those lockpicks. It seems to be their guild 'job'.

Same people, every day. But I'm sure it's not profitable ;p
